Pencils are the best invention - ever! Look at what you can do with them - draw, scratch your head, clean your ears, jab the annoying person next to you.... I think pencils are great. The design hasn't changed much during the history of the pencil and it is ergonomically designed to be held comfortably. Fortunately the content has changed from lead to graphite so that we are not poisoning ourselves as we chew distractedly on the end.
